Chennai's weddings receptions christenings feast days fed since 1991
Blessing Catering has served weddings, receptions, baptisms, communions and parish feasts across Chennai for thirty-five years. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian, cooked separately. Twenty-five guests or two thousand.
O taste and see that the LORD is good.Psalm 34:8

Some meals are just food.
Others hold a family
together for an afternoon.
A wedding lunch, a child's christening, the feast day your parish has been preparing for all year. These are days people remember in detail for the rest of their lives, and the food is a large part of what they remember.
Blessing Catering is a family-run catering company based in Anna Nagar Extension, Chennai. We cook South Indian, North Indian, Chinese and tandoori menus, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, prepared fresh at your venue or delivered hot and served by our own uniformed team. We handle a twenty-five guest house blessing and a two-thousand guest wedding with the same seriousness: the cooking, the counters, the serving, the clearing.
We are a Christian family and we serve every community in Chennai. Our name has been our promise since the first order in 1991 — we have been blessed, and we are here to be a blessing at your table.
“…and thou shalt be a blessing.” GENESIS 12:2
Every celebration has
its own table
Thirty-five years has taught us that no two occasions want the same food, the same pace or the same setting.

Wedding & Reception
Morning tiffin for the family, the banana leaf lunch, then the evening reception with its live counters. We plan all three as one continuous day, which is why our teams arrive before dawn and leave when the last table is cleared.
Plan my wedding
Baptism & Christening
Small, usually at home, and more emotional than families expect. Food that arrives quietly, is served warm and generously, and never becomes something anyone has to manage. Twenty-five to a hundred and fifty guests.
Enquire for a christening
Communion & Confirmation
Sunday, straight after Mass, and the house fills up. A lot of children and a lot of relatives who have driven in. Familiar food for the elders, biryani and something fried for the children, and a Mass timing that always runs late.
Enquire for communion
Church Feast & Parish
Feeding a whole parish is a different discipline. Large numbers, never quite the number estimated, everyone served inside a narrow window. Long leaf rows, brass vessels, servers moving in sequence, the last table as hot as the first.
Enquire for a parish event
Christmas & Easter
The calendar's two biggest tables. Plum cake, kuswar, rose cookies and a full non-vegetarian spread at Christmas; a generous lunch after a long Lent at Easter. Book early — late December fills by the end of November.

Corporate & Get-together
Office lunches, inaugurations, annual days and family gatherings. Cleaner presentation, tighter timing, individual plating or a compact buffet. We bring counters, chafing dishes, crockery and staff.

House Blessing
A new house, a priest, a short prayer, and then everybody eats. Our favourite bookings — small, warm and family-heavy. Banana leaf lunch at home, served by our team, cleared completely before we leave.

What lands on the table
South Indian, North Indian, Chinese and tandoori. These are the dishes people call us back for.
Seeraga Samba Mutton Biryani
Short-grain seeraga samba, slow-dum in copper handis, with onion raita and brinjal gravy. The dish our repeat customers book us for.
The Banana Leaf Feast
Twenty-plus items in traditional order — poriyal, kootu, avial, appalam, pickles, payasam, rice and ghee. Served leaf-side, hot, in sequence.
Tandoori Counter
Live Chaat
Tiffin & Filter Coffee
Idli, ghee roast dosa, pongal, vada, three chutneys, sambar, and proper degree coffee for morning functions.
Vegetarian and non-vegetarian are cooked in separate kitchens, carried in separate vessels and served at separate counters by separate staff.
Not a claim. A procedure we have followed since 1991.

Tell us the day
Message us with your date, the occasion, an approximate guest count and the venue. That is enough for us to start. If you are still deciding numbers, tell us the range.

We build the menu
We send a suggested menu and price based on your occasion, your community's customs and your budget. You change what you want. Most families go back and forth two or three times, and that is normal — better now than on the day.

We prepare
Quantities confirmed a week ahead, ingredients sourced fresh, kitchen and serving team planned around your timings. For weddings we walk the venue in advance to plan counters, service flow and clearing.

We serve
Our team arrives early, sets up, cooks, serves in uniform and clears completely. You attend your own function. That is the entire point.

From twenty-five guests
to two thousand
A house blessing for twenty-five and a parish feast for two thousand are not the same job scaled up. They need different kitchens, different vessel counts, different serving rhythms and different team sizes. We plan each from scratch. Tell us your number and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
Look through the years

Families who came back
They walked our hall a month before the date and moved the entire buffet line because of one narrow door. We would never have thought of it. On the day it mattered.
Suresh K.Wedding reception, PadiBooked eleven days before Christmas expecting to be turned away. They said yes, gave us a price that afternoon, and delivered plum cake that disappeared before the guests sat down.
Grace FernandezChristmas lunch, VillivakkamWhat I remember is the clearing. We came home at midnight and the hall was spotless. No arguments, no extra bill, nothing left for us to sort out.

The things
everyone asks first
If your question is not here, message us. We answer quickly and we answer honestly, including when the answer is no.
What is your minimum guest count?
We cater from around twenty-five guests upward for home functions. There is no upper limit we have found yet — our largest single service has been over two thousand guests.
How much does it cost per plate?
It depends entirely on the menu, the occasion and the guest count, so we do not publish a fixed rate. Message us with your date, occasion and approximate numbers and we will send a per-plate price the same day, usually within a few hours.
How far in advance should I book?
For weddings and receptions, two to three months. For Christmas, Easter and parish feast days, book early — December fills up by the end of November. For smaller home functions, two weeks is usually enough, and we can sometimes do less.
Do you cater both vegetarian and non-vegetarian?
Yes, and we keep them genuinely separate — separate preparation, separate vessels, separate counters and separate serving staff.
Do you cook at the venue or deliver?
Both, depending on the event and the venue. For large functions we set up a kitchen at or near the venue so food is served fresh. For smaller ones we cook at our kitchen and serve hot on site.
Do you provide serving staff, crockery and counters?
Yes. Uniformed serving staff, counters, chafing dishes, brass and copper serving vessels, crockery, cutlery, banana leaves and drinking water are included rather than billed as extras. We clear everything afterwards. Our team is our own, not day-hired.
Which areas of Chennai do you serve?
All of Chennai and the surrounding areas. We are based in Anna Nagar Extension and regularly work in Anna Nagar, Mogappair, Ambattur, Padi, Villivakkam, Kilpauk, Aminjikarai, Porur and Avadi. For venues further out, message us and we will tell you honestly whether we can serve it well.
Do you cater church feasts and parish functions?
Yes, regularly. Large-format banana leaf service for parish feasts, church anniversaries, harvest festivals and community lunches is one of the things we do most.
Do you only cater for Christian families?
No. We are a Christian-owned family business and we cater for every community in Chennai. Our menus and our customs adapt to yours.
Can we taste the food before booking?
For larger bookings, yes. Ask us on WhatsApp and we will arrange a tasting.
What if more guests turn up than expected?
We plan for it. We prepare for around ten percent above the confirmed count as standard, because in thirty-five years the number has almost never come in under. Nobody has been turned away from a Blessing counter.
Across Chennai, from
Anna Nagar Extension
Anna Nagar & Extension
We have been based in Anna Nagar Extension since 1991, which makes it the area we know best. Weddings, receptions, christenings and home functions across Anna Nagar, Padi, Shanthi Colony and Thirumangalam. We know most of the local halls, their kitchens and their service constraints by name.
Mogappair & Ambattur
Regular work across Mogappair East and West, Ambattur, Korattur and Padi — wedding halls, church halls and homes. Being close means our teams arrive early without a long transport run, which matters more than it sounds for food that has to be served hot.
Greater Chennai
Kilpauk, Aminjikarai, Villivakkam, Perambur, Porur, Avadi, Poonamallee and the wider city. For venues at the edge of the city or outside it, message us with the location and we will tell you plainly whether we can serve it to our own standard.
Tell us the date and
the occasion
We will come back with a menu and a price, usually the same day.
